The toy market in Germany is continuing to do well despite the soft economy.  While Christmas is months away, toy companies are already showing off the toys that they hope will be on your children's top toys 2013 list. See some of the top toys for Christmas. We have seen everything from model trains to books to board games to dolls. While digital toys are becoming all the rage, classical toys will continue to do well.

Recently, the toy market has reached some stability. The industry has experienced some slow down in recent years. However, during the last couple years, it has picked up.

Analysts say that the German toy industry is in good shape, in spite of sinking birthrates and more difficult conditions at Chinese factories. Both classical toys and the latest digital toys are doing well. There is enough room in the market for both types of toys. Even when the economy was at its worst, we saw a bit of growth in the toy market. The toy market in Germany has fared well compare to other countries in Europe.

We might be seeing more expensive toys because of the changing global market. Most toys are manufactured in China.

Compared to a few years ago, the conditions in China are changing and making it more difficult for toy companies. It is getting more expensive to produce toys in China. The bulk of the toys are still being made in China, but the work conditions are changing and costs are rising. With these increased costs in China, there is a shift in manufacturing back to Europe.  Right now it is a small percentage of all of toys being manufactured, but this number could increase in the coming years.

There has been a demographic shift in Germany. Parents are now having fewer kids in Germany. This is a trend that is taking place in many industrial countries across the world. With fewer kids, you would think that the market for toys would be shrinking. However, we have seen a bit of growth in the last couple of years. What could account for this strange contradiction? Perhaps parents are buying their children more toys and spoiling them. People are living longer and longer. We all know that Grandparents love buying their children toys. When most of us think of toys, we mostly think of children but it is not just kids playing with toys. Many collectors love collecting action figures. Some adults just want to feel like a kid again.

One big shift in toy market is the new desire for electronic gadgets. We are seeing a lot of toys that work with the latest smartphones and tablets. We are also seeing toys that are designed to mimic tablets that are made for adults. We have even seen electronic gadgets that are designed for babies. This doesn't mean we won't be seeing classical toys anymore. If anything, toy makers will be giving these a new twist with the use of technology. Last year, we saw the comeback of Furby. The toy would change based on how children treated it. It's an exciting time to be a kid.
